This is really good authentic sushi! We ordered a platter of mixed sushi nigiri and rolls. The service is nice and the place is tiny but the wait time wasn't long.

7/8/2024 Sushi Tomi 635 W Dana St Mountain View, CA 94040 We went there for lunch on Monday around 12:30. It's a cozy setup with the sushi bar and a row of tables on the LHS and a larger dining only area on the RHS. We got a table immediately and since this was the first time we needed extra time to review the menus, the waitress came by twice to check if we were ready to order while promptly bringing us requested glasses of water. I got the two item lunch with Saba Shioyaki and Tempura, Wifey got the Nabeyaki Udon soup which also came with a side of tempura. My Miso soup was brought quickly and this is the best I ever had, with lots of vegetables, tofu and some cubes of salmon. My Saba was really juicy and the tempura variety was very good. Service was prompt and helpful. The quality and quantity of food was excellent, a really good value. Definite repeat and a new favorite.

Was looking for a solid authentic neighborhood sushi spot and this could be the one. Sushi Tomi is understandably popular - you'll often find a wait but don't let that deter you. We waited about 20 min, exactly what the server/hostess said it would be, and then we were seated. The restaurant is cozy and a bit tightly packed. It might be tough bringing a stroller in the restaurant if you have young kids. Service was fast and friendly and food comes out pleasantly fast too. What really sold us was the $100 omakase set. You get two your choice appetizers, a chef's choice appetizer, and the chef's choice nigiri set. An amazing deal and you'll walk away satisfied and happy. Highly recommend. In today's world of dying restaurants, it's been a long time since we've been this satisfied as diners.

Sushi Tomi is a Mountain View institution..I was recently back in MTV and was so excited to pop back into one of my favorite local spots. My friend and I ordered an array of dishes to share and as always the food was brought out promptly and executed to perfection This trip I really enjoyed the trying the yakionigiri (fried onigiri). It was filling, an umami bomb with crunchy texture If you're ever in MTV make sure to stop by... They only seat first come first serve so be prepared to wait..there are tons of boba and coffee shops around if you need to kill time before your name is called. But trust me, it's worth the wait

Updating my review from four years ago... Thankfully not much has changed: * The wait is still long with people gathered on the sidewalk, especially on weekends * Eating at the sushi bar is no longer a way to shorten your wait. Everyone has figured that out. * The sushi is still incredibly fresh, some of the best in the Bay Area. I asked and much of it flown in directly from Japan. * The fried crab appetizer is still amazing tasty (although isn't gotten expensive) * The waitstaff is still very nice; there are even still a few who have been working there for ages. Highly rated but hard to get in to.

A very decent sushi place! In terms of menu, I'd say it is very traditional. So if you're looking for something more unique or looking for fun rolls this is probably not the best place. I would describe it as a "safe" option but probably not my first choice of sushi in the Bay. The best thing about this place is their sashimi. The cuts are really fresh and they are generous with their portions. I was rly impressed with how thick the cuts were. But if you're the type of person who is more into sushi rolls, I think this place was a bit basic. The flavors don't rly come through and the rice is a bit thicker than I'd prefer. Since the menu is pretty traditional, there is not much variety either. The ambiance was okay. It feels kind of crowded and it's not very decorated. I think this would be a good place to take your family or do a business meeting but not the type of place where you'd have a date or hang out w friends.

In the mood for some great sushi? Check out Sushi Tomi located in downtown Mountain View. We came by for a late-ish lunch, missing the busy lunch crowd, and also getting our food and a last chance to order more before the kitchen closed at 1:30PM. We had: Two hot green teas 3.00 Lunch combo with grilled mackerel and salmon/tuna sashimi 19.90 Lunch combo with grilled mackerel and gyoza 17.90 Tamago nigiri 4.50 California rolls 7.90 Next time I'd pass on the nigiri and rolls. The bento box was the perfect amount of food! Can't exactly take sushi to go for later consumption, as it is never as good as fresh! So we ate it even though we were perfectly satisfied to avoid food waste. Next time, just order bento boxes and enjoy lunch at a downtown restaurant that has been around for a long time!

Venturing into this sushi haven was an absolute delight, and I can't help but sing praises for the culinary symphony that unfolded at every sushi-filled turn. However, let me shine a spotlight on three extraordinary stars of my dining experience. First and foremost, the Tomi Special Roll deserves a standing ovation. It's a gastronomic masterpiece that transcends the ordinary with its artful blend of flavors and textures. Each bite unveils a harmonious dance of ingredients that left my taste buds in a state of euphoria. It's a testament to the chef's creativity and skill, making it an absolute must-try for anyone seeking a culinary adventure. Next on the pedestal is the uni, a delicacy that this sushi haven elevates to unparalleled heights. The uni here is not merely fresh; it's a revelation. The rich, creamy texture and the subtly sweet, briny notes unfold like a treasure for the palate. It's a sublime experience that will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on any sushi aficionado. And let's not forget the Rainbow Roll, a true kaleidoscope of flavors that showcases the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Each vibrant layer contributes to a delightful medley of tastes, creating a sushi roll that's as visually appealing as it is delicious. It's a testament to the chef's commitment to excellence and a testament to the restaurant's dedication to delivering an unforgettable dining experience. In conclusion, this sushi establishment is not just a place to satisfy culinary cravings; it's a haven for those seeking an extraordinary journey through the world of sushi. The Tomi Special Roll, uni, and Rainbow Roll stand as triumphant examples of the culinary prowess found within these walls, making it a destination worthy of both repeat visits and enthusiastic recommendations to fellow food enthusiasts.
